Developed by our founder, Kaiun Mishima, who was inspired more than 100 years ago by the healthy cultured milk he encountered in Inner Mongolia and who wished to offer a drink that was both tasty and healthy, CALPIS represents the starting point for those of us with a desire to promote the health of body and mind.

In 2007, on the occasion of the company’s 90th anniversary, Calpis intensified the flavor of the cultured milk that is the basis of CALPIS to create a more vivid, unique taste for a lactobacillic beverage. In addition, we adopted a more impressive package design that expresses the Milky Way, from which the Calpis polka-dot pattern was derived.
We also introduced CALPIS Diet for calorie-conscious consumers as a response to diversifying needs.
