
Thorough quality management from product development and ingredient selection to shipment
Our manufacturing system is based on an ISO 9001 quality management system that aims to enhance customer satisfaction and an HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point)* system for food safety control.
Star ting at a development stage, we check labeling, formulation, design, ingredients, container, and production method using a check sheet that contains 200 check items. This is done as a way to assess safety, legal compliance, and proper labeling. Products are commercialized only after passing this assessment.
We exercise strict control over materials that have a significant impact on product safety through the three steps. These steps are; selection of materials based on safety assessment, supplier selection prioritizing quality, and voluntary inspections such as sampling of purchased materials.
In addition, we have developed a traceability system that can rapidly identify product delivery channels right up to the destination after shipment from the factory to prepare for the occurrence of issue.
* HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points): a systematic preventive approach that is established and instituted to reduce or eliminate the risk of food safety hazard at all stages of food production and preparation processes including packaging, distribution, etc.

Production site safety and quality control
All production activities are rooted in stringent quality and sanitation control. In the manufacture of CALPIS, for example, all processes- from receiving raw materials to fermentation, maturation, filling, and packaging-are controlled automatically. CALPIS is produced by accompanying sophisticated quality control and shipping inspections based on HACCP. These activities ensure products to
satisfy our customers.
With the aseptic PET bottling line, which was installed in 2008, we now use significantly less amount of water and steam. We have also successfully produced lighter containers. Thus, from the facility selection to every single activity, we make every effor t to reduce environmental burdens and improve environmental quality.
The voices of the customers are our precious management resources
Voices sent to our Customer Service Section from consumers and trade customers by phone, letter or email are systematically gathered and transferred daily to the related depar tments to pursue higher product quality across the company from the customer's point of view.
In addition to this, we analyze requests and complaints of customers in order to understand more deeply the needs of our customers. This information is shared throughout all related depar tments at “Customer Satisfaction Improvement Meetings” and “Quality Committees”, so is effectively used to create better products and services.
Also, in response to the increased attention for the safety of foods by consumers, we disclose the nutritional information, allergy cautions of each product and information on producers of the ingredient on our web site.
