Expressing our wish for the healthy growth of children
Various projects express our desire for children, as the leaders of the next generation, to grow up healthy and spiritually rich.
One example is the “CALPIS Girls' Day Festival Gift Campaign.“ The giving of presents to kindergartens and nursery schools nationwide began in 1963 by Kaiun Mishima, the company founder, who wanted to increase the joy of Girls’ Day Festival with white CALPIS, which resembles white sake, a traditional Girls’ Day Festival beverage. For more than 45 years, we have presented a glass of CALPIS to every child in participating facilities. Recently we present CALPIS to over 3 million children every year.
Picture books that create delicious memories for more children
Picture books are wonderful tools for enriching the minds of children and nurturing family bonds by reading together. With this belief, we have issued Calpis Picture Books in cooperation with publishers since 1982. Every year we deliver one book with beautiful pictures and a fun story.
We also annually co-sponsor “Ehon World“ run by the Children’s Reading Promotion Conference that provide an opportunity to experience the joy of picture books. We will continue to contribute in nurturing hearts and minds of children through these activities.
Opportunities to meet with customers by joining social contribution activities
Our company is committed in organizing social activities which offer our colleagues a chance to think about social contributions and to have face-to-face meeting with our customers.
Since 2007, our members visit kindergartens and nurseries at occasions such as Girls' Day Festival and Tanabata (Star Festival) to host book-reading event, read picture books and offer fun entertainment such as magic and dances as a social contribution program.
Also from 2008, we participate in an “Entertained Science Class Project“ led by Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry as a social contribution activity drawing from our lactobacilli and fermentation technologies. Our employees plan and develop a program that offer a class by visiting them, to show and teach about the secret of fermentation and lactobacilli in an interesting manner.
